Anniversary trip

The weekend before our anniversary, AJ and I got to get away for 2 whole nights without kids!! Woohoo!! My wonderful parents watched the crazy kiddos while AJ and I explored Portland! I really do love Portland. There's so much to do and see and just walk around. But, I will never live there (Lord willing!) It's too busy for me and I could easily get lost :) Anyway, we had a gift certificate to stay at the Grand Hotel at Bridgeport. Super nice rooms! Our first full day we decided to head to Ikea. So.much.fun.

Trying out a new table at Ikea. And holding a starbucks. Life couldn't be better!

Next, we headed to Omsi. I was especially excited for this part since I hadn't been since I was in middle school! AJ was not thrilled to go. I really wanted to see an Omnimax movie, but it's $9 a person! No thank you. So, we just walked around. And walked around. And I got bored. But, AJ was having a ball.

See? He loved these little mind game stations they had. He wanted to figure them all out. And there were probably 50 of them! Ok, maybe not that much. But, we spent a lot of time on them!

He's enjoying himself a little too much! :)

After Omsi, we walked around Bridgeport and window shopped. After walking and then eating dinner we decided to go eat some more (cause I love food!) and get some delicious dessert at Papa Haydn's on 23rd street. I also love this place! Such a fun environment to be at!

AJ did not want me taking his picture. As soon as I got my camera out he said, "Are you going to put this on the blog?" Yup!! His cake was nummy!
I had a berry cobbler. It was good, but not my favorite. I still ate it though!
After dessert we headed to my brother's band concert. We haven't been to one of his gigs since Lily was a wee little baby. Kinda hard to get out for a late night concert with kids! Anyway, it was fun that his band was playing in Portland! I was getting tired after dessert and was kinda ready for bed! And it was only 9:45pm but we persevered and had a blast!
Me and Joel before they played!
Here is Symmetry/Symmetry playing. They were really good!
The next morning, we headed back towards downtown Portland and had brunch at Mother's Bistro-so yummy!! We've only been here two times but we love their food.

After brunch we went back to Bridgeport and saw a movie-thankfully we had free movie tickets! On our way home we stopped at Woodburn outlets for a bit then went and picked up the kids! What a wonderful weekend :) I will say that on our actual anniversary AJ brought home some beautiful flowers. See?He also wrote a card for me. Before I type it out, let me say he went with a more funny version this year. And we've recently started playing this game where we hide things under each other's pillow and see how long it'll take for the other to find out. Yes, we are lame. But, it's funny and we laugh :) Anyway, here's the poem:

Love is patient, love is kind,

Poo-poo pee-pee all the time,

Two people in love, it's so special,

Oh how I love to stuff things under your pillow.

I realize some of you may think, "Really?" But I laughed!!! It's the best card ever! And now you all have a glimpse into our marriage : )

Portland is a great anniversary destination! We did that 2 years in a row. And I know I got the berry cobbler at Papa Hayden's on one of those trips too! And I felt the same way about it! Wierd! I'm so glad you guys had a good time. Marriage needs to be fun and sometimes we need a reminder of how much we like being with our spouses :)

You two are awesome! Looks like such a fun time...it's fun to see pictures since I didn't get to hear about how your time went! Pictures really tell the story! :) Dan liked those puzzles at OMSI too...I tried for like 1 minute and gave up...blah! :0)

and I love your fun lil tradition of surprises under the pillow! Cute! :)
