The FLU?!!!

Well, Lily got her first flu today...not the best thing in the world! I was just waiting for when it would happen. Apparently something was going around in the nursery at church and it was a matter of time before it hit Lily. Surprisingly, she did quite well with the whole 'vomit' thing. I won't go into details, but she didn't cry or anything. And as soon as it was 'out' she would be fine and keep playing with her toys. It happened all this morning for a 90 minute period. After that, 4 changes of clothes before I gave up and put her into her PJ's, vomit on me, lots of sleeping and not much eating, I just put her to bed and she's doing well. Praise God! And thanks to all who knew about this and were praying hard. But the even better part to this story is AJ got it! My word, that boy always gets the flu! Every stinkin' year! He's basically dying right now on the couch with all the lights off, 2 sweatshirts, 3 blankets, and a heating pad. He just can't seem to shake it. And the 'vomit' is still coming. I pray it'll end before he goes to sleep because that's no fun to deal with. So it's supermom to the rescue! I sure hope I don't get it! Seems babies can get over this sickness thing faster than adults! So...please pray for AJ, that it'd be gone before he leads worship on Sunday, and protection for me...cause I gotta be healthy to take care of my family!

Other than that, life is good. Lily got to 'play' in the snow this week as Salem finally got more than a trace! AJ had found this sled from Junk-Away and it's basically like a big box-with sides all around it-so it fit Lily perfectly. She had so much fun being pulled on what little snow was left on our front lawn. We got some great pictures. I'll post them as soon as I can.

I've got a baby shower tomorrow, one on Sat. morning, small group, etc. this weekend, so I'm hoping we all feel better! Thanks for reading!

HI all. Not much to say, but I've got some pictures
to show you! They're all kinda random, but fun to look at. AJ just left for Men's Retreat-it's very sad! At least he'll be back tomorrow evening. Tomorrow afternoon we drive to Portland to see my cousin Chris who is home from Iraq for a couple weeks. I'm looking forward to it! Plus, it'll keep me busy while AJ is gone. But I'm also excited because I rented 3 girl movies that I can't wait to watch, since AJ will be gone and all! AND...the best news of all...Lily said her first words yesterday!! I got it on video tape! She says "Hi kitty" when she sees our cat Belle. It was so cute. She doesn't say it often, but has definately mastered the 'hi' part. She can also say 'baby'-referring to her doll. It's so fun! She's becoming quite the little talker!

It's been too long!

Hello my friends and family. I can't believe it's been over a week since I posted-sorry about that. Life is just crazy busy, plus this is AJ's work computer, so I've got to be tricky in finding time to be on here when he's not!

We took a last minute trip to our beach house last Monday-Wednesday. It was a much needed break away from the normal, everyday routines. We basically just relaxed and hung out. Went to the outlets for a bit, but didn't buy anything. Of course it's cause AJ was with me :) Really though, the only thing I wanted to buy was a little valentine's day shirt for Lily, but it wasn't on sale so I passed. I'll just have to go shopping at Women's Retreat in 2 months! Heehee! AJ took Charlie to the beach and threw the ball around for him. And while Lily did her napping I was able to scrapbook! My goal is to get caught up with her first year of life by her first birthday. What a job that is! But I got lots done...and still lots more to do! I can't imagine trying to do this with more than one baby! We'll just see how long it lasts!

Life is busy with AJ preparing for Men's Retreat this next weekend. He'll be leading music up there and has lots to do to get ready. But he loves it and spends most of his spare time (which isn't much!) on it. He's a busy guy! But again, loves doing it. The good thing about him being our 'worship leader' is he has to come back late sat. night from Men's retreat so he can lead worship at our church on Sunday. Which is even great for me! I hate it when he leaves, but I can definately handle one night. At least Lily's here to keep me company so I won't be scared at night-yes, I know I'm a wimp! I'm hoping to use the time he's away to rent 'chick flicks' and do our annual mother/daughter/friend dinner (meaning Acker girls and Uram girls) We've just got one little baby to add to the mix. Too fun!

Well, dinner is ready, laundry is done, and Lily is crying. Music to my ears-just kidding! Here I come to the rescue!! :) love you all!

By the way, our picture thingy is broken so I can't post pictures on this blog! I've got some cute ones too! Hopefully it'll be fixed soon so you can see some fun ones of Lily and her spaghetti face!

Let it Snow!

How fun to wake up this morning with a light sprinkle of snow on the ground! Ok, maybe just the barkdust, but still! It was fun, and now it's melted....very sad. It was a nice start to the day of fun for me. I was able to enjoy a facial this morning by Janey (She goes to our church). It was amazing! And thanks to my mom for giving me the gift certificate for Christmas! I'm hoping to ask for one again for my birthday cause it was a nice experience! But I was seriously there for 1 1/2 hours, and she massaged and put warm towels on my nice! What a treat!

As I type this Lily is crying her head off refusing to nap. She's been in there for about 1/2 hour or so. She's so tired. It's days like this I wish I could turn music up way loud to drown out her crying. It's so sad too...I wish she'd just give up and fall asleep! She actually napped quite well this morning, very weird. But, she's for sure given up her morning nap too. Things are changing around here! Her newest phrase (actually, it's not so much a phrase as it is a syllable) is saying "oh". It's so cute! She just says it over and over. I'm not sure if it means "uh-oh" or "oww". But, it's fun to think it could potentially be a word, right?!

AJ was so nice and washed my expedition today! I love Saturdays, cause he's around (well, he's always around, but he's hanging out with me!) and he does 'honey-do' lists and such. I think he enjoys it too-at least I hope so! And now he's got the Seahawk game on and is trying to listen to that while waxing my car...I don't think he can hear it very well!

Well, that's all I've got to say. I'm going to leave the house, maybe grab a Starbucks, and hope by the time I get back Lily will finally be asleep! I'll let AJ deal with the crying :) He's such a good daddy! Happy weekend to you all!

Hello to my friends and family. I thought I'd try out this 'blog' thing to update you on the Acker life. Yes, I know I see most of you every day and you already know about us, but I thought this might be kind of fun-especially for you out of town folks! I guess this is part of my 'new year's resolution'! To update you all on us!

Now that the holidays are over, it's nice to get back to the normal swing of things. Just in the last couple of days I'm finding miss Lily isn't wanting to do her morning naps-dang it! I love that time to drink coffee, shower, get ready, etc. So today I didn't shower until 12! Oh well! I'll have to figure something out I guess! But she's sleeping really good at night and didn't wake up this morning until 8:45! It's wonderful for me!

Busy day for me shopping, eyebrow wax (yes, it's important to me!), make a meal for the Steiner's who just had a baby!, and make dinner for my family! If I was rich, I'd make someone grocery shop for me! I don't know why I hate it so much...but I do. But someone's gotta do it. And really, I'm quite lucky, because most of the time AJ comes along with me and he bags all those groceries! But today he's got all sorts of meetings so it's just me and Lily. Although AJ's sister has this week off from school so maybe I could get her to watch Lily...hmm.

Well, I'll try doing this every so often and update you all. Maybe even 2 times a week! I promise it won't be that interesting, but we'll see! Thanks for reading about us!
