Considering Colby’s birthday is TOMORROW, I thought I better write about him!
Colby is still an easy going, laid back baby. He is happy all the time. Except for if he gets hurt, or is extra tired. He takes bottles great still, and I am trying to figure out how to make the switch from formula to regular milk. I never had to do that with my kids-plus, they didn’t have bottles. But, it all worked out with them so it will with Colby!
Colby sleeps great from about 8-7ish each night. Still taking 2 naps a day. Although, now that school has started, this is changing since I’ve had to wake him up to pick Lily up from school. Which then requires me to lay him down again for a cat nap! This kid loves to sleep. Which I’m ok with!
He was seen for thrush (keep scrolling and you’ll read more about that) and at that appointment he weighed 21 lbs.
Colby has yet to start walking…or even crawling!! He’s been referred to a Portland hospital (OHSU) for developmental testing. Which, I’ve been told, can take anywhere from 6 months to a year to get in! My hope is that by the time his appointment comes (which hasn’t even been made yet) he’ll be walking, rolling, etc. and we won’t need to be seen! I’m thankful Colby doesn’t seem too bothered that he can’t move and is still content to just hang out. Thankful God is in control though!!!
Colby is wearing size 12 month clothes and is still in a size 3 diaper. He’s just so small still-but long! I’m wondering how tall he’ll be at his 1 year appointment!
Uncle Joel was in town briefly, so he came by to see us!
The back of Colby’s head is pretty flat, which we’ve known about since he was itty bitty! We decided to get a scan done to see if Colby qualified for a helmet (which he would have to wear for 4 months and for 23 hours a day!) to correct the flatness and reshape his head a bit. I’m happy to say, he doesn’t need one! The amount of flatness isn’t that high of a percentage (7%) and wouldn’t make that much of a difference to do it. So, we opted out! Plus, the guy doing the scan said if he were us, he wouldn’t do it either. Which was just what we needed to hear. Hallelujah! Anyway, to do the scan he had to wear that silly little “bonnet.” He tried to take it off a few times, but just went with it and didn’t seem to mind. AJ and I were laughing so hard though because Colby looked ridiculously silly!
He is still all smiles even when something crazy is on his head!
And then Colby got thrush. Awful. In fact, we are STILL dealing with it and I have another appt. with his doctor to see what the next step is. We’ve already done 2 rounds of antibiotics. So crazy when he’s just about to turn 1 and will be done with bottles soon (hopefully!) So, the day we found out about thrush I was feeling sorry for myself since I had to boil bottle nipples, but then was thankful for a homemade iced coffee that cost me nothing! It’s the little things people.
Colby is such a relaxed, easy going baby that he will pretty much sleep anywhere. I’m SO thankful for this! Which means I don’t have to put my life on a complete hold and be stuck in my house during naps. If I’m at a friend’s house, I will just lay him down there. 99% of the time he will sleep. Amazing. This was at a family reunion we went to last month. We just put up the pack ‘n play and away he napped! It wasn’t the longest nap, but it was better than nothing. It was all I could do to not crawl in there and nap with him!
My mom’s uncle’s house. It was beautiful! Lots of family there that we hadn’t seen in years.
My cousin, Ben, playing soccer with Jameson. It was hot out and he was so sweet to play with Jameson for a long time!
There were even some old fashioned buggies that we got to take pictures in.
Sweet cousins sharing food. We love Owen!!

Ugh, we totally had to debate about the helmet with Bailey too. Her head is not flat but it isn't round, more of a kidney bean. However, Dan thought I was being over concerned and everyone at the Dr.'s office didn't even notice so we opted not to worry about it either. I just hope it isn't an issue if she has to wear glasses or anything since her ears are slightly off balance. Colby is so cute, hopefully as you say he will be off and running long before the appt. Shad had to have a speech assessment at 2 1/2 and I was terrified- turns out he was diagnosed with something- stubborness. As you say God is in control and it will all work out for the best.
